I had a great trip with Turkish Airlines.
I travelled Manchester to Manila via Istanbul in each direction. Its 4 hours to Istanbul and 11 hours 40 to Manila so it’s the second shortest flying time of all the carriers doing that route.
They use an A320 from Manchester to Istanbul and a triple 7 between Istanbul and Manila. The flights were bang on time and all connections were good. Istanbul airport seemed huge, but its probably no bigger than other similar airports. Arrivals are on one floor and Departures on another. There are plenty of moving walkways if your gates are far apart and lots of shopping choices too for those last minute gifts.
Passengers arriving Istanbul on long haul flights need to go through security again, and queues can be long.
The service inflight and on the ground was great. There was plenty of choice in the entertainment system and the food was delicious and plentiful. I was very impressed with the fast onboard wifi which is free in Business Class and for Elite Frequent flyers or can be purchased at $15 for 24 hours.
The baggage arrived quickly so overall very good.
